Charles Sovek has created a wonderful resource for artist’s called Lessons from the Easel.
It’s one very exceptional and useful link!

I introduce my High school students to
Lessons from the Easel right off the bat. Everything needed for “art-producing” is explained and displayed in an easy to understand manner that kids will appreciate. Color values, line, Accent & Highlights, Contour and gesture are all there. Other links from his site include; Why this painting works and Painting anything under the Sun. Awesome resource!

*As I’m writing this post “Irene” is on her way. This afternoon I took a drive down to our beautiful RI town beach to see if the big waves had begun to arrive. They were bigger than usual but not giant yet, hopefully we will not lose too much of our coastline. Power in Rhode Island will most likely be lost so I could be off for a few days!
