Maps as art or incorporated into Art have always been fascinating to me. Many times I encourage my students to collage, employ, and scan all types of maps into their work if they feel it will give their artwork meaning in some way. Recently my graphic design students incorporated maps within a series of self Portrait pieces. The work took on extreme personal meaning for them because their map choices were so personal.
