The Smithsonian’s Collection site is phenomenal! There are 137 million artifact, art & specimens, 7.99 million digital records, 2 million library volumes, and 136,194 cubic feet of archival material. WOW!
PopcornMaker is a pretty cool online creation tool that allows you to layer media, text, video, maps, quotes, and images to tell a compelling unique story. I envision using PopcornMaker to tell an artist’s story as a remix of Art, location, and technique; or as a technique teaching tool, incorporating video, text, and exemplars. Many possibilities! Sweet!
New Hive is a new mash up site that allows you to start with a blank canvas before you drop & drag just about everything you want onto it. It’s a new and creative venue and has big possibilities for the creativity. New Hive is in beta but when you ask to join they get back to you pretty fast. Looks interesting!
Art derived from the beach describes Ukrainian Artist Svetlana Ivanchenko’s stunning mosaic paintings. They are delicate, subtle, detailed, natural, soft, and evoke so much emotion. Ivanchenko’s pieces remind me of the natural beauty all around us and how Artist’s will always create because they need to! And, they will use any materials at hand. These magic mosaics will inspire your students’ imagination. Via Amusing Planet
Moonberri is a great new free site to share multiple files online with whomever you want to. Share videos, documents, images and links without signing up and Moonberri will generate a unique URL specific to particular items. Moonberri allows you to even password protect your files as well as personalize them! Without Moonberri signup you get 200Mbs & when you sign up you get 1Gb with options for more space in the cloud. What a useful tool for artist’s dealing with large files.
