Get Closer is a photography contest being held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY City. The contest is open to anyone, not just students! But…. I do think students would really enjoy the experience. Choose specific artwork from the Met’s permanent collection that capture your imagination and click away! Submit a photo of one specific detail close-up in a single work of art, along with a photo of the complete artwork. The examples are wonderful….see some of them here
A 50 word, written description describing why you find that particular detail within the whole artwork, so compelling is also required. Specific directions, rules, and requirements are at this link. Five winners will be chosen and their images will appear on the Met’s website. Each winner will receive a one-year Individual Museum Membership.
